Passionate celebrants dedicated to meaningful ceremonies

Over many years, Jo and Sarah have worked together and developed a close and loyal friendship. Having followed similar routes through education and leadership roles, they have both come to the realization that being a Celebrant will allow each of them to support families and individuals at key moments in their lives.
Sarah and Jo fully understand what it means to support loved ones at some of the most important times in our life. Whether it’s a time of elation and joy, or a time of extreme loss and sadness, being there with someone is what really matters.
As Jo and Sarah offer to support families as a Celebrant for all life’s big moments, funerals, weddings, naming ceremonies and vow renewals, they know that being together in the journey offers much for themselves as well as for the families they work with. Working closely with one another allows additional thoroughness as well as additional support whenever it is needed. They both know that relationships are what makes life richer, and they know that everyone will benefit from the richness which comes from their shared wisdom and experience.
They use their two heads to bring additional fullness to their roles as Celebrant, and hope that families working with them will see that they are very much of one heart and mind.orthern Lights Celebrants was founded by two former head teachers who bring professionalism, empathy, and active listening to every ceremony. Our mission is to deliver truly bespoke and inclusive ceremonies, whether weddings, funerals, or naming events, that resonate deeply with every client. We value inclusivity, respect, and going above and beyond to support families and communities through life’s significant moments.
More about Sarah and Jo...

Sarah Griggs
Much of my adult life has prepared me for work as Celebrant. With previous experience in social work, education, leadership and coaching, I now enjoy the best of all worlds when supporting families as a Celebrant.
I believe that to have empathy and understanding with others, you must be able to stand in their shoes and see the world from their perspective. How else can I plan your ceremony if I don’t begin to know you, and your family, and to hear what is important to you.
Working with you, to plan your perfect ceremony, means spending time together, hearing what you want, and listening fully. Only then will I be able to make suggestions for you which will match your wishes.
Throughout my earlier working life, it has been very important to me to build relationships, and to be able to communicate with many people from all backgrounds and beliefs. I have a careful attention to detail and always want things to be the very best that they can. Working in true partnership is an absolute must for me, and I am always honest and open. I very much hope that families see my heart on my sleeve, and know from our first conversation that I am loyal and trustworthy.
Family life is very important to me, and I have seen my fair share of life’s ups and downs. This has made me the person I am today, and I look forward to sharing time with you as your Celebrant.

I was blown away by Jo's eulogy of my father - she managed to cinjure up a complete and accurate picture of him as a person - a beloved father, husband, friend and colleague. Her delivery was nothing short of inspiring.

We had the most beautiful and special wedding ceremony thanks to Jo who went to great lengths to put us at ease and craft a unique day we both loved and enjoyed.
Jo was excellent at calming our nerves at the start of the ceremony and she showed her versatility by totally embracing the theme of our wedding, which was based on the TV soap opera Neighbours!
We knew we were in safe hands every step of the way and we couldn't have been happier with how it all went.

I wanted to say how deeply grateful I am for the beautiful eulogy you wrote about my Dad Bryan. You took time to listen, absorb even the smallest of details that I hadn’t expected you to use but you still managed to include them and then hearing the details reminded me how important they were in his story.
It was so thoughtfully and sensitively crafted and you captured not just the facts, but the very essence of who Dad was, their kindness, and all the things that made him so special to us. Your approach was to listen, asking just the right questions which made me feel safe in answering over and above what I had been asked.
Your words were sympathetic, gentle, and perfectly pitched; you understood exactly what I wanted to say, and expressed it with such clarity. Reading it felt like you had known them yourself, and you managed to honour their memory in the most meaningful way possible. It brought comfort to everyone who heard it, and helped us to feel close to them again.
Thank you for putting such care and heart into this you gave us exactly what we needed, and we will as a family treasure those words forever.
We look forward to talking with you...
